Courchevel is one of the most famous ski resorts in the world. Located in the Alps of the Savoie department, it is made up of five villages: Saint Bon Tarentaise, Courchevel le Praz, Courchevel 1550, Courchevel 1650, and Courchevel 1850. The ski area stretches from 1,100 meters to 2,700 meters. Fifty-eight ski lifts connect the villages. 150 kilometers of slopes will satisfy even the most demanding skiers. A few words about the history of Courchevel:
The birth of the Courchevel resort began in the first two decades of the 20th century. Ski instructors gave their first lessons in 1920 and the first hotel opened in 1925. Since then, the resort has experienced great growth, especially in the 1950s and 1960s during which Courchevel saw a significant increase in accommodation and acquired new sports facilities, notably ski slopes and ski lifts.
During the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, the resort hosted the Nordic combined and ski jumping events. Courchevel acquired new sports and tourism facilities for this occasion, including an Olympic ice rink, a cross-country ski stadium, ski jumps, luxury apartments, underground parking, and more.
As part of its recent modernization, Courchevel saw the opening of the Family Parc snow park where you can practice snowtrotting, snowboarding and freestyle skiing. Figure skating, ice hockey, ski jumping, cross-country skiing, downhill skiing and many other winter sports are possible in Courchevel. In addition, you can also enjoy balneotherapy sessions at the 15,000 m2 Aquamotion aquatic complex built in 2015 with an indoor pool and a pool
